<subfield code="a">Although the basic principles of body mechanics are clearly demonstrated in this resource, it goes beyond positioning, turning and transferring someone with a disability. Developed by The North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities to help their agency staff learn the basic techniques and guidelines when helping, it also teaches the importance of dignity and respect by covering issues like privacy, and maintaining a sense of control for the person with the disability. Staff are also taught ways to minimize the risk of back injury, and how correct position can positively influence others' attitudes towards the person with the disabilities. This video and accompanying manual is a training treasure for day activity centers, homes and agencies that serve people who have disabilities which affect motor skills.</subfield>
